What's going on with Mimi?? She has hardly won a match this year..
Mimi's insta after Wimbledon starts off:
'After a challenging few months with injuries....."
It's obvious she's not really right yet
Nb she did her maths A level a year early, no?

I remember Lambda and Anne Keovathong saying she has done with her A levels. She kind of collects them now as a hobby! Described by Anne as very academic and bright, she has teased with pics of visiting colleges at Cambridge University recently on Insta. I was listening to Cocos interview a few days ago at Wimbledon and they were talking about her tennis and the support from her parents and how proud they must be. Sure she said but they sometimes rather I had gone to college and Uni and graduated with a good degree. On the same theme Jon H and I have considered whether an academic Uni in the USA might be a possibility for Mimi given her academic prowess. Although as Jon said her injury record may be an issue.
What a disappointing end for Mika, fights back from a double break down to level at 5 all, gets broken to leave Dodin serving for the match and hammers a forehand return from a 2nd serve miles long on match point to lose 7-5 in the decider
Leticia responds to being broken by breaking back to take the first set 6-4, her serve isn't the strongest but her returning is very good especially off her forehand side
First time watching Leticia, she has easy power and doesn't need to hit the ball hard to generate pace, looks like it's all timing
Leticia has a good powerful build for tennis too
She doesn't move the best (as common with those who aren't the little, scrappy types) and so she overhits rather a lot, always quite a lor of errors. But it's nice technique and nice timing.
Mind you, noweher near as many as Maaya is making - for someone who got that huge publicity a year ago or so, and all the help from Nadal, you'd think she could find the court at least a couple of times in a game, but seemingly not
I've always liked Leticia, not only from her tennis, but her brother is often with her, and I like her mum too - and I got the feeling her mum was rather on the outside, not one of the clique (she's Bulgarian, I think?)

She's been keeping the errors to a minimum today and chasing down along the baseline when needed, playing very well.
From the video stream her serve looks like a 'get the ball in play' type serve compared to some of the other women though

Definitely the second one
Her serve should be better, I agree, there's no reason for it not to be
She's playing more carefully today but it's because Maaya is so off the pace - and Leticia is right
But it' risky - not sure it's going to end well in this set
That makes sense and glad she's playing the situation well. That was a big hold from 15-40, hopefully she can get a point early here and put pressure on Maaya
