GB Tennis Data site

Hi everyone. I have launched a new data site for GB tennis located, for now, at https://gbtennisdata.github.io.

I have started off with the women, primarily because that is where my interest lies and the data I'm starting off with is mostly already available elsewhere for the men.

I have many ideas of what to include on here, some inspired by former regulars steven, blob and alibaba and others my own ideas. How quickly they appear depends on data availability and the challenges in creating and maintaining it.

A the moment the data includes:

* A summary table including ranking, whereabouts for this week and next, next counting points dropping and 18th and 19th counters (inspired by steven's top 25 table)

* Points that count towards ranking and points that don't, viewable by either player or week dropping. For both singles and doubles. (note in these tables all columns are sortable)

(Note for singles I think I have all the counters for the last year. For doubles at the moment I am missing most counters for players with ranking points but not ranked as I am not able to identify them without going through all the tournaments for the last year.)

This is only the start and I will add more as and when time allows.

I am sure I have some typos and data errors, particularly around drop dates. I have found and corrected plenty so far. It is confusing with the calendar being a week later this year and the multi-week tournaments. I will go through and check them all.

As I say, at the minute I am focussing on building it with women's data. I haven't ruled out doing the men as well, but it will depend on how time consuming it is to keep the women's data up to date. Of course, if someone wants to provide me with men's data in the format I require it would be just a matter of feeding it into my code.

Feedback and what you'd like me to add (if anything) welcome.

Thanks lambda. I will use this as I follow womens tennis more than mens. The only other site I might go to is live rankings, but that changes so often I can understand why it isnt included. On summary page, notes, I wonder whether splitting this between notes and adding another column injury status might help? Unfortunately injuries have such an impact on the game today. Just a thought. A colossal amount of work. Very easy to use and navigate.

Sounds great and I will investigate it shortly when I have some time to spare.

There used to be a table listing the highest ranked player each of our players had beaten. I don't know if it is still going. You could add a best win column to your table.

Pierrot has been posting that info somewhere in the general section, I think.

That is super useful. Saves me doing points defences manually each week!

That is amazing, Lambda!  Thank you SO much.  I had really missed Steven's tables.  Very exciting to have the equivalent back.

Pierrot's 'Career best singles wins' thread is indeed a Sticky at the top of the General tennis section.

This is brilliant Lambda. After Steven's site disappeared I started trying to keep my own records of ranking points but it's so hard keeping it up to date. I shan't bother now as I can use your instead. Thank you so much

Thanks, it good to have that. there was an earlier version that also included the name of the defeated player.
