Week 26 – ITF W15 - Monastir, Tunisia - Hard

QF:- Esther Adeshina (GRB) WR514 [1] LOST to Eliz Maloney (GBR) WR922 [6] 3-6 2-6

QF:- Eva Shaw (GBR) UNR/2034 [Q14] LOST to Yasmin Ezzat (EGY) WR778 [4] 2-6 (3)6-7

*****

SF:- Eliz Maloney (GBR) WR922 [6] v Yasmin Ezzat (EGY) WR778 [4]

On paper that looks like a bad loss for Esther but I see Eliz has a much higher CH?
Eva battled really hard in the second set fighting back from a break down and getting to deuce at 6-5*

Yes, Eliz has a much higher CH of 371, but slipped back while studying, although she's had plenty of success in the University teams. I'm sure she#ll climb back to near WR300 if she plays enough tournaments.
Esther has a slightly unusual game, and reached her CH of 510 in June this year

Did Eliz only recently study because I see she's nearly 26 but had her best rankings 2022-23 and was unranked last year(?)

I watched Esther's qualifying match at Wimbledon and it's hard to imagine her progressing much more without a reliable forehand groundstroke
