Opening game was the best 1 in a few World Cups certainly the goals from Lahm and Frings for Germany were great goals.

Our Crouchie does it again!! Beat T+T 2-0 thanks to late goals, i think after rooney came on we played better despite not being our best performance and also some daft misses by crouch but he made up for it at the end!
WELL DONE ENGLAND!!

Oh...anyone watched Germany v Poland thats was nerve racking as well!!

Heh, aye the hype of the media for the England team is beyond a joke. To be fair England will at most reach the semis but even at that the media probably won't be satisfied.

the media is funny, crouchs goal was probably a foul but hey i guess it doest matter as its england. if T&T had scored agsint us with some one pulling rio's the ref would recive death threats and never ref again, and the player would become a national enemy!

some of the decisons haven't been top notch either, in a way feel kinda sorry for france, they should have won both games i think, but bad refereeing has left them with draws, still you can say that a team of their quality should ahve been able to win those game sanyway.

Bar england, i always back the underdogs when they play against high quality opponents! i know that france should have beaten up but S.Korea hung on! though the goal would have been in had gallas looked at the ball rather than watching the ball go in slow motion!

anyone watche germany v ecuador...3-0 germany, they played great, but what do guys think?

also, whats your prediction for england v sweden, i think england will win 2-0, with a class display from owen!!

I reckon England will beat Sweden, I think they'll start to step it up now. Rooney and Owen should work well for us, we've never really played our best with Crouch in the team - get caught up in long ball mode.

I'd fancy us to beat either Germany or Ecuador in rd2 what I'd be worried about is if we lose to Sweden we're on course to play Argentina in the quarters

I haven't seen much of the WC due to exams but have seen some of the goals. The Brazil-Australia match was really entertaining, if England don't win it I hope Brazil do.

Did anyone see the Argentina-Serbia and Montenegro match ?

What do people think of the England result ?

Had to record it but have watched it this morning, so disappointing that we couldn't hold on to the lead. Two absolutely fabulous goals for us, Joe Cole was the England man-of-the-match for me. I felt that England kept possession and controlled the game through passing in the midfield well for large periods but we didn't create as many chances as we should have done given the amount of possession we had - a lack of quality crosses was a big problem. As all the newspapers are saying, the set-piece defending was really shaky, I don't think there was much we could have done about the 1st Sweden goal but the 2nd one was just diabolical.

Looks like Owen's out of the World Cup which is a blow but he was struggling anyway. Sven's going to have to try Walcott at some stage against Ecuador, I don't like the idea of 4-5-1 with Rooney up front because England get too defensive with a 5 man midfield.

joe cole did play well, but he has to work better with ashley down the left. everytime ashly makes a storming run down the left, passes to JC then carries on down the flank but JC just cuts inside, one this will get very predictable and better defences will probably cope better, two its cutting off a really strong point from our team. Ash is one of the best attacking full backs in the world for a reason. JC played well, great goal, and pass for stevie g, but i think he needs to work more with his namesake, or i can see AC's effort lvl dropping.

on the match itself, i was disspaonuted with John Terry, hes normally a rock for us but i found him somewhat lacking so far, he failed to deal with a clerance which led to the sewden corner/goal. the 2nd goal was just farcical, JT missed a header, it bounced over sol, Ashly junmped out of the way, maybe Robinson has called for it? still set pecies can be worked on,

shame theo didnt get a run, my feeling is if owen hadnt got injured he would have, but with owen going off, and it obvious ronney not going to last the full 90, i think crouch had to come on, theo wouldnt last 90 either. the game was so tight at the end that steve g had to come on really, and good job for us he is on form at the moment.

at least we avoided germany and argentina till the final!! i think they were lucky to draw considering sweden hit the post about 3 times!

sad about owen, but annoyed with sven that he didnt give walcott a chance maybe, if england score about another 2 in the first half he would have had a chance!

did u see rooney stomping off like a teenager and chucking his boots on the turf!! very funny!

England were very lucky to win today. But I feel Ecuador didn't cause much of a threat except for that chance early on when they should have scored.

But the Portugal vs Holland game was farce. About 16 yellow cards and 4 reds. But still was a decent enough game.. But the Portugese, don't even get me started on them.
