Finally, some good news!! and what good news. So pleased for her - what a victory and a story after every retirement and injury time out. Fabulous!

Would have absolutely given a win to swan out of all of the ladies. Well done!

So pleased for Katie. Think that moves her near the top 150

As PeteM said, currently showing as live ranked 170 with her R1 win points.

Just now go and beat Madison Keys or Kayla Day to get into WR 150 territory. That match has just gone one set all.

Believe it or not but Heather is now only 5th alternate because so few final rounds losers signed-in

Is there any possibility of her getting in?

We need more goodnews.

Didn't Katie play Madison in the first round that year she came through qualies?

I think that's correct LordBrownof, it ended up a 2 set win to Keys, was a windy day, and the ball was flying as I recall. Also I think, Swan had played Keys in the first round at Wimbledon a year or two previously which again was 2 sets, and Key's power was too much that day, so this will be their 3rd encounter at Wimbledon afaik. Swan later played Keys in Sydney at the United Cup 2023(?) in a fabulous match, and was so close to winning in 3 sets. Katie has become a much stronger player, albeit notwithstanding her back issues, since those earlier matches, and her serve has improved significantly with the addition of slice (over the last 3 years or so). The most pleasing aspect of today's win against Begu, was the calmness, and adherence to the game plan, making so few errors. Playing point by point, each one separate is the way to do it, and that little test at the end from Begu, showed that Swan was playing in that way.

 Yes, please do !

I'm pretty nervous, as Maya has only won one out of 13 matches since January, and her ranking has dropped from 31 to 87 as a result.

6-3 *1-0 wink

I actually find myself wanting Serena to win (as to my shame I did with NoJo last night). Guess as an oldie, I and siding with the old guard.

If it's any consolation I was on Centre yesterday, actually didn't intend to watch Djokovic but due to the late start there wasn't much else of interest going on so I watched and also found myself rooting for Djokovic. I'm hopeful it's not a long term issue.

I really do not want Serena to win

(Unless she plays such amazing tennis that she deserves it)

I am / was a huge fan

And have no trouble with her wildcard, for press interest, crowd interest, whatever

But I don't think she has the level, at 44 and not having played for 4 years, or whatever, and I think it's daft of her to think she has

Prove you're still there first, we don't need to take your word for it

And play doubles

PS Djoko is a different thing - he's not a favourite of mine (for political reasons as much as anything else) but he's a pro player, a top player, a full-time player, not in the Serena category at all
