Such a shame for Ollie. He had a break point at 5-5*, which Rinderknech saved with a big serve. Then saved three match points in the final game but was eventually broken for the first time in the match. Such fine margins. If he can play at that level consistently, he'll be a top 100 player sooner rather than later.
That rather depends on whether he gets on court. It's the same court as Ollie & Rinderknech & there's a women's singles scheduled before that. They could always move it, of course...
JPJ's match against Nakashima has been moved to Court 18.
Second big shock of the day (after Jack's unexpected withdrawal): Ruud (11) beaten in straight sets by "Hubi" Hurkacz (6-4 6-2 7-6(7)!
This is not a shock. Casper hates the grass and will be on a golf course sharpish
Agreed, least upset ever! Rublev losing to Safiullin equally was a non upset although it looks like it was a v tight match. Rublev had played just one match on grass losing in Halle.
So the day has far from gone as we would want for the Brits.
It is still June though and during the rest of this month there have been many very good British performances, resulting in no less than 19 contenders for June Player of the Month.
Cheer yourselves up a little by going to the voting thread, with the narratives acting as a reminder, and then go and cast your vote for your June PoM.
Yes, but it's easy for people to say 'this was not a shock' after the event
It still counts as a ranking shock - and the betting odds show general public opinion
These people don't follow tennis. If you did, then you would know that Casper has zero love for grass. I'm sure if he could, he would skip it entirely.

Hope some folk.here then took some of the bookies' money off them.
I was on Court 2 for Cam's match. Zheng was exceptional he really didnt put a foot wrong. His forehand was infallible and his serving was phenomenal. Cam just ran out of options, he was even losing the lung buster long rallies which is his bread and butter.

I did have a look but Hurkacz was odds on with the bookies yesterday morning!
