I can understand why people don't find Esther's playstyle the most aesthetically pleasing especially with the forehand push/slice and loopy groundstrokes largely up the middle, she's getting plenty of errors from Uchijima though, up 4-0! Dani meanwhile has a break against Riera and leads 4-1

First time watching Esther, very random game. Definitely looks like it's all on the Japanese's racket.

Uchijima appears to have worked out she should go to Esther's forehand, takes the second set 6-3

Dani struggling on serve now and Riera serving for the second set at 5-2

Both Riera and Uch. have buttoned down the hatches - both looking ultra uncomfortable on grass at first, not able to play like normal, and both realising they have to make balls, put the ball in the court, slicing it, whatever

And the GB players then get a bit stressed

But third sets are always a bit different

Final point of the previous game sums up the match, Esther forehand pushes the ball mid court, appears to give up expecting to be passed and Uchijima goes long with the entire court available giving Esther the break back

Both girls were a set and a break to the good right?

Esther escapes her service game eventually to go up 2-1*. It does feel like all Uchijima needs to do is find the court, but she can't do it.
