Enjoyed that match. JPJ was always favourite against a player yet to win on grass.
Struggled a bit serving it out and went big on the second serve in the final set.

I saw him win on grass on Saturday!

That's dodgy commentators research then. Perhaps they meant main draw

L28:  Jack Draper WR 160 defeated (LL) Marcos Giron (USA) WR 86 by 6-4 7-6(5)   smile

Jack looked pretty good out there & in reasonable form, considering the length of his most recent lay-off.  Played some nice stuff (apart from the ninth game of the second set, in which he dropped his service for the first time to, I think, love.

Off topic, I thought it was wrong of both players to expect the ball-boys & girls to hand them their towels & take them back when they'd used them.

hadnt spotted \Jack plays Jack next. Oh well. Usually I like Brits playing Brits but on this occasion feel both could have progressed further

So 2 LL and both Brits miss out.
Hopefully Cerundolo will pull out having just won Queens and a Brit can get a bye!

Cerundolo does pull out and Toby Samuel gets a bye to round 2!
plays Fearnley or Tirante.

As far as I can see Tirante played one match on grass last year. A loss to Paul Jubb.

He was quite happy at the end. smile  He still needs another win for you know what though, and he won a CH 50 during Wimbledon last year, so a win next week might not take him over the line.

He's back at bloody live ranked 101 for now though.

This practice went by wayside during Covid but unfortunately the players kicked off such a fuss and it's fairly recently come back. It's ridiculous as a player could just use a sweatband, but they just use the towel as a mental reset.
