Just to note, in case not mentioned (and hardly that important), the committe only used 1 of their discretionary wildcards (for Brooke)

They had two to use, if required (six wildcards in total)

But only used 1

Because Allegra was the other one but she was next in so it would make no difference if they entered her with the WC or directly by not using it. But as you say not important.

But they could have given a wildcard to Ruby, say, and then Allegra wouldn't have been in

So it was only if Allegra would have been the wildcard no matter what

But we are where we are, all seems OK (although still perplexed why Ranah isn't here)

Millie and Hollie warming up now, other Courts at very different stages of the 2nd men's matches

Millie takes the first set against Hollie but the stats suggest Hollie had multiple chances to break before Millie took her only chance at 5-4.

Ladies underway on all 4 courts now

Some of these groups are hard to predict, but I'm going to have a go.

First section. I'm not convinced about Naiktha's form, so I recken it is between Esther and Savanagh
Second section. Between Vic and Katy. Katy beat Vic 4 & 0 in a Hotelplanner tournament at the start of the year, so I'm hoping she can come through for the third year running.
Third section. Emily v Ella - could go either way.
Fourth section. Millie is favourite, but will be interesting to see how Sofia competes.

I'm probably wrong but I'm not a big fan of the tennis of either Esther or Savannah

Nor Vic

Real shame that Ella and Emily are in the same quarter

Yes shame they have to play each other in qualifying round but at least their first matches won't cause them any difficulty!

Forecast here is the rain to be pretty light and to pass reasonably quickly

At least the women have plenty of time, though, as tomorrow is set fair and they can get theirs all done really easily (and the men too, having finished R1)

slightly surprised they haven't restarted yet, the cricket at the Oval in Kennington only had a half hour delay and started again 20 minutes ago
