And now Katie has withdrawn. What a disaster.

I really dont think Katie would have withdrawn unless she had to. Likewise with Emma. We got two women to the semis of a WTA500 and one into the finals. They were both playing two competitive matches on one day. Something has to give. Cut them, some slack. Could be a bumper Eastbourne!

You can still feel really sorry for the organisers - as PaulM says, the whole draw has been a disaster for them

Yes I can feel sorry for them. I felt sorry for Eastbourne when the WTA 500 was taken off them and replaced with a WTA250. Could have been good pickings for Katie and Emma if they had been fit.

Sorrier even for me, with no Surbiton

THAT'S the tragedy of modern grasscourt tennis

Alicia as the next highest ranked FQR loser will replace Katie if she signs in in the morning.

Yes, that's the question - has she left? Is she coming back? Was she slightly injured in her last match (she didn't seem to be moving too well) ?

She's still entered for the doubles with Mimi, but not due to play tomorrow

My thoughts on the ladies matches.
Only saw the last set of the big game and the Chinese superstar deserved to win. She had a big following.

As for Fran, she was poor in the first set. I left to watch Jay Clarke and was suprised to see her win the second.
Third set, she had breaks and should really have won, but she is not a grass court player and never looked comfortable holding on.
The Aussie girl wasn't that good.

Just a few comments on the venue as i havent been for over 15 yrs (Rusedski & Wilkinson played)
Decent courts. Main stand is huge. Could do with more spectator facilities on courts 3 & 4
If you dont get in the public car park, there is nowhere local. Luckily there were no checks for pre-booked.
Toilets decent. Outside catering not signposted limited and expensive. I've no idea where the alcoholic drinks were being served

Just an add on ref Fran. Served well loads of aces, but tried to run around to her forehand too often and got caught out with the quicker surface. Hardly saw a backhand, but those that i saw made errors.
