Fran loses 7-6(4) in the third. I do think Preston deserved the win but not a nice way for it to happen. She was the one in the tiebreak actually trying to make something happen and took a few risks. I mean that second serve ace on match point said it all.

Sore one for Fran on body and mind.

Showing on the draw as replaced by a LL - wonder if Alicia is still there ? If not her or Hannah, there are a number of doubles players who could sign in as alternates.

I really dont think Katie would have withdrawn unless she had to. Likewise with Emma. We got two women to the semis of a WTA500 and one into the finals. They were both playing two competitive matches on one day. Something has to give. Cut them, some slack. Could be a bumper Eastbourne!

You can still feel really sorry for the organisers - as PaulM says, the whole draw has been a disaster for them
