Boys & Girls: Tennis Europe Under 14 Junior International Raynes Park - Category 1 (Week 23)

This is the one Tennis Europe under 14 event on grass, with a prize of a place in the Wimbledon invitation event to the winners, if they have not qualified by other means.  Oskar Laskowski comes into the category of already qualified, but plays for the ranking points, and he is the one British boy to be seeded.  Ginny Chen is seeded in the girls event, but she missed out on a Wimbledon place in the recent East Gloucestershire Club qualifier

Kudos to Seb Beetlestone for seeing off the top seed (TE4) in straight sets. Caleb Griffith and Sophia Florence also beat seeds, but Wimbledon qualified Nishta Kesavan suffered a brutal double bagel by the second seed.

Caleb was the only one of the seed beaters to continue to the quarter-finals, joined by Oskar. Ginny Chen lost to fellow Brit Naina Kapoor in a match finishing late yesterday, and there are now no Brits left in the girls' singles

Somehow - indoors presumably - they managed to complete the quarter-finals, with Oskar advancing comfortably against the second seed, avenging a defeat on clay earlier in the year

Oskar reached the final of his last Category 1 event, in May, and he has repeated the feat today. The Swiss boy who stands in his way has been imperious so far this week, with 4 comfortable straight sets wins

Noah Honsberger (SUI) v (5) Oskar Laskowski

Diana Florence has followed up her recent Grade 1 grass nationals win by winning the Category 1 Tennis Europe event at Queenswood. Beat Victoria Florea 4&0 in the final. Great summer for her so far! Shes always been one of the LTAs top pick and has represented GB in friendlies. Been just behind Isla, Victoria and Sahara. Looks like thats changing now
