I see that the threads have now been merged, which wasn't exactly what I was thinking of. But hey ho I guess it's no biggie.

It was never my intention to start a thread devoted solely to the corruption that's clearly rife within FIFA, but I was so incensed after reading Martyn Ziegler's article that I couldn't be arsed to take a more measured view, so when I saw your earlier comments, I merged it into Jon's neutral theme.

Off topic, about to watch The Damned United on BBC1, largely because I have a lot of time for Michael Sheen & both Don Revie & Cloughie hailed from my home town rather than because I have any fondness for The Dirties.

Great film. I was at Leeds v Luton, which was Cloughs last home match at

Leeds and they drew 1 each

This was the team that day

David Harvey (Goalkeeper), Paul Reaney, Trevor Cherry, Billy Bremner (Captain), Gordon McQueen, Norman Hunter, Peter Lorimer, Allan Clarke, Joe Jordan, Johnny Giles, and Eddie Gray.

Leeds and Clough was a car crash, but Clough proved folks wrong when he took Forest to two European Cups over Malmo and Hamburg. Brilliant - just made an ego driven mistake going to Leeds when it was all about showing Don Revie up. And he failed

of course, England considered him as a possible manager later in his career - after Revie in 1977 but Ron Greenwood was chosen and later in 1982 when Boby Robson was appointed. Bobby took us to Italia 90 near success, so whos to say Clough was a mistake?!

One referee down. The African Football Referee of the Year was denied entry to the US at Miami International Airport, apparently for no other reason than being Somalian. He supposedly had valid documents issued I don't know when. He is currently in Turkey.

Somalia is one of the countries on the US ban list, also effecting many supporters such as no entry for Haiti fans and clearly Iran fans.

And 15 or so of the Iranian support team who cant get visas. The Iranian team itself is locating in Mexico even though all their matches are in the USA and flying in on a a match by match basis.
