On this occasion it does look like enough of his normal fan bases are saying too much, too far, and are with UEFA.

Nothing of coirse surprises re Trump and his cohorts so they are not the story, esoecially on this thread ( even if as I said early on not an entirely appropriately named thread if including such other discussions but hey ). It is all about Infantino and his eagerness to get into bed with such folk and I wonder about the linings of his pockets.

It is a long read and sometimes a difficult read but it blows apart any thoughts that anyone involved in FIFA at the top or some of the confederations are in this for anything but themselves. 

And the corruption link with Trump and is chronies is old - remember Jack Warner and Chuck Blazer who went down for corruption in Concacaf and Fifa - they had an office in Trump Tower and Blazer had an apartment just above it in the same tower. Very convenient. 

As Lord Acton wrote 

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." 

And that is where Fifa has been - it has had absolute power and no one has challenged it because their own interests are supported by letting them get away with it - perhaps until now, when UEFA actually have enough power and money not to bow down.

If this was a corporation and the CEO brought such a deal to the table without foreknowledge of the Board, and they voted it down, the CEO would be gone. Position untenable. Let's see if Infantino and Fifa act like a real organisation here

I make that 136 votes against so far...  However, in the section headed "What has been the reaction?", there's this:

Fifa released a statement early on Friday vowing to continue with the plan - but added "nobody is selling football".

The bugger's clearly not giving in without a fight!
