It looks incredible windy on the court, the camera is shaking and you can hear the wind rushing on the stream

Well, she very much deserved to win that match. They both struggled with the wind but it was Katie who tried to dictate the points as much as she could. Great match despite the conditions!

Golubic went very defensive the latter half of the 2nd set, just slicing the ball back, and at the same time the wind picked up. Swan at 5-3 up looked like the win was imminent, but she lost a bit of momentum, and then played a bit more tentatively, making some errors. It was enough for Golubic to draw level again and take the set into a tiebreak. Swan started well, went 3-0 up, then Golubic levelled to 3-3. Swan went for her shots and hit a lovely forehand deep into the corner to take it to 6-4 and two more match points. Clinched it on the second. Golubic showed her frustration at the end belting a ball out of the grounds. Katie dealt with the windy conditions that much better than Golubic, especially earlier in the match when both players were slugging it out. Two good wins against players who have been well into the top 100.

Katie is barely moving for the ball and looks impaired when walking across the baseline. 6-1 Krueger

And Katie has retired

Shame for Katie but she's not playing next week so hopefully plenty time to recover.

I would think she has a WC in Nottingham. But if she has, whether she'll now take it must be in doubt.

Two matches in a day, just too much atm for Swan, probably. May well put the somewhat atypical loss to Taylah Preston in the Birmingham 2Rd into a bit of context. As PaulM says next week is a good chance to heal up, and recover. Needs to be as healthy as possible for the Slam if the WC is granted.
