Very interested to see Savannah on the list

I seem to remember Lambda saying she would be the top US college player for the Wimble wildcard playoffs spot, if she signed in, but nobody knew if she was going to give it a go

Rather a shame she's drawn the top seed but, all the same....

And obviously great to see Meg Knight on the court - do hope she's fully fit and firing on all cylinders

Welcome to grass to Ella too - always love to see the US bods returning, like summer swallowa

Main draw wildcards are for:

Mimi Xu

Dani Britton

Katie Swan

Alicia Dudeney

BIG step up for young Dani - she's barely played any adult tennis and is in the main drfaw of a WTA 125 !

Tegan would have been the 4th qWC (from being U18 RU) but not using it creates the extra direct place for her.

Quite surprised by the number of Brits in. There must have been a lot of withdrawals.

Great to see Savannah in. I didn't have any doubts she would play the play-offs but didn't think she'd get to play any of the grass pro events. She is of course a Yorkshire lass and played at Ilkley before going to Bolton so this is a return to her early junior home.

Just seen the order of play on TNNS. Six courts in use, starting at 11am

The forecast is mixed for tomorrow. They may get a couple of hours in, before regular showers

Ridiculous, IMO, that a young girl who has only played one adult match in her life now has to play against a top-100 player

If only the LTA would host some slightly less rich grass events, our girls could actually get some practice in

What sort of practice is it when nearly all the players are (completely understandably) losing in the first round ?

 It does seem daft!

Agreed with the above, grass is meant to help our players but they lately just get thrown into losses and seems to nullify the chances of progress... could use a few 75s or 50s imo

Well less losses next week with just WTA 250 Nottingham!    - probably so kindly saving a good number of our Wimbledon Qualifying players the exertion of playing any matches in the week before Qualifying.

Very interesting the way wildcards have been split with Katie, Alicia and Mimi getting main draw here while Heather, Lily, Hannah and Jodie get Queens QWC. Also I do not understand the logic of giving a main draw WC to a 15 y/o when theres Allegra who cant compete in quails coz she has a final tomorrow and shes only 18. Also any idea why Marni isnt there?

I believe Allegra entered into the Egypt Grass court W25 event this coming week - draw isnt out but she was on the confirmed acceptance list and I presume we expect to see her in the draw there - so presumably Ilkley wasnt in her plan and staying in EMEA was the thinking at this stage to ensure some grass practice ahead of the play offs?

Hopefully Summer also made the main draw as the qualies top seed was second on the alts list behind her.
