Theres been a lot of criticism of Laura over the scheduling. She isn't responsible for scheduling. The WTA supervisor is responsible for setting the order of play.
Finally someone's said it! The stuff that Laura is actually responsible for (or has a team to be responsible for on her behalf) the players all seem very happy with. The scheduling is still dreadful though.

If you are an AI believer:
At an individual WTA event, the Tournament Director (e.g., the local tournament management) and their team draft the daily order of play. However, this schedule is heavily influenced and finalized by the WTA Supervisor to ensure it aligns with the tour's strict rules (such as prime-time sessions and restrictions on late-night finishes).
I don't believe in A1 () but, of course, Laura doesn't make decisions on her own and the WTA supervisor is part of it. But it's done in conjunction, the tournament director is part of the decision-making process, and - as the person who gets overall credit for running the thing when it goes wonderfully - also has to asset themselves to try and protect against slip-ups.
id rather believe the rulebook
1. WTA Responsibility The Supervisor, in consultation with the Tournament Director, is responsible for match scheduling. All match time requests must go through the Supervisor.
Match scheduling will take into account relevant factors including television contracts, the possibility and timing of day matches the following day, the actual start time for the night matches, and other relevant factors.

Yes, a joint decision - in consultation - so the buck stops at the Supervisor, you're right, but it's a team decision and Laura, as the one who gets the credit when things go well, will also get the flack when things don't - which is right and proper
