Still dithering about whether to go tomorrow or Thursday. Order of play includes Jake, Jubby, Charles B, and then a WTA match with Urhurbo v Naeg , never heard of either of them so assuming one of them is a big new name in the offing to be centre court
Weather looks atrocious
What's the deal with indoor courts?
Theyve got 5 indoor courts nowadays, in like an aircraft hangar with little spectator room, and Id doubt any room to televise it. But the courts are specced to enable pro play so definitely could be used. and theres enough of them to get a decent amount of play in.
The onsite car park is also waterlogged (its a field by the river) and so on site parking has been closed. Which is a bind as the courts are a decent walk from the town.
He gave it a good go. Dane Sweeny was dwarfed by Ollie but with the ranking difference was giving it the swagger at the start of the match. Amusingly the Fan Village DJ put on the Men at Work track Down Under just as their match started causing Ollie to have share a joke with the umpire. Put up a good fight not helped by the frequent short breaks for showers (Ilkley avoided putting covers out as the wind dried the courts quickly after each shower - on centre court they put a large sheet out at and behind each service end to keep that part of the court drier. Seemed to work well with play restarting quicker than I remember with Wimbledon). Ollie has a new career high just outside the top 1000 and will hopefully get another WC somewhere on the grass.
Unfortunately I missed the marathon tie break for Billy Harris.
Long journey in my electric car back down to Berkshire but it was a nicely set up tournament and I'll visit again.

I parked on Tuesday by the riverside for £5.20 for the day - only about 8 mins walk from the onsite entrance.
4 R1 wins for our live ranked GB #5 to #8, who have currently only 10 points between them all, with JPJ dropping 64 points from last year ( Jake drops 100 points next week so his win today will be very welcome, quite apart from he's been short of wins anyway )
