Long time page reader but finally decided to make an account and post. Any thoughts as to why Emma / Katie B / Fran weren't interested in a wildcard to Birmingham? Happy to see Katie S, Alicia and Mika get rewarded though

 Welcome Sammmm! 

I am not that close to the womens game but, in general, those players involved in the French tend to not have had much time to practice or get their game in synch with the grass, I think this weeks WTA125 and Men's Challenger can often just be a week early for them.

Emma is most likely practising with her "new" coach (old coach!) and getting her game in tune. Fran went deeper as did Katie at Paris and Fran so I suspect that both will be getting some training in on grass before going into tournament play.

Fran was supposed to be staying on the clay in Foggia this week, but hasn't appeared in the draw. Katie B was still in Paris with Alex at the weekend.
Katie and Emma would have been seeded this week.

Mika on court against Emma Jones and 1-2 first set, going with serve. I'm assuming it's not on tv anywhere other than Bet365?

You can watch WTA125s on the WTA website

Mika a break down, couple of double faults and ragged errors in that game to be broken after a few deuces. Serve looks very good when it hits it spot.

Play stopped a while ago with Mika 3-6 *1-1. The covers are on, and being inflated so not looking good for any play soon.
