Very tough draw for Hannah. A win would have been a surprise but expected a little more from her. She seems to have stagnated for the last 18 months or so. Ella struggled when initially switching to pros while she worked on adapting her game for the pros. If that's not what's happening with Hannah I feel she needs to make a change in her set-up, by which I mean leave the LTA setup, or the LTA need to show some tough love by not continuing to give her wild cards which may be fuelling an unconscious sense of entitlement or expectation.
Emily also had a tough draw and while she has sprung a surprise or two on grass before the result is about in line with expectations.
Vic was called up late which maybe contributed to the slow start but decent effort in the 2nd.
Good result for Mimi which given her time out and poor results since returning from injury was not wholly expected. But not wanting to devalue the win, I struggle to understand Kayla's ranking as she has not shown that form in either of her 2 years at Louisiana State University.
Good effort by Jodie after so long out. She just needs to get match fit now.
Heather frequently excels at Birmingham so this is disappointing. If she can't win these matches I wonder how much longer she will have the desire to plod around the ITFs?
I expected more from Lily. Nothing more to say.
Millie got everyone's attention as a qWC here a couple of years ago. Perhaps she was playing off confidence after her largely successful final year in college back then but this result shows how much she has regressed since then. The 400s does seem to be her natural limit. There's still time to be a late bloomer but if she wants to break that barrier then she's another one that I feel needs to change her setup.
BTW, this is a WTA125 not a 125K as said in the thread title. The prize money unusually for a 125 is much more than the standard 115K for a 125.
