Did anyone see any of Katie's match against Taylah? Was Katie struggling physically or was she simply outplayed?

No didn't see any of the play, just watching the score tick over. Seemed a little unusual, Swan not able to put the squeeze on her opponent as is usually the case. Maybe Preston just played top tennis? Maybe there was a little problem?

I think the tennis stats on the ITF website is way better than the WTA / LTA offering. Especially the point by point summary on the ITF site, which gives a really good impression of how closely fought the games are. The LTA point by point is pretty useless, just indicating whether a point is won on the 1st or 2nd serve, that's all.

I think it's just a question of Katie playing regularly now, in order to bring up her level i.e. she just hasn't played enough tennis at the level she's looking to play, to be match-hardened against someone in the high 100's. She's now up to live, 198, and hopefully will now push on up

After two big scares, Maia and Harriet get their act together in the semis for a demolition job. I didn't actually see the match against Emily and Celine but guess they just tidied everything up this evening.

Harriet and Maia lose the doubles final in straight sets.

Mika had 40-15* there but Bartunkova too good and Mika not firing on all cylinders.

Yay, Mika takes the second set in a TB.

4-6 7-6(8)

Super fierce hitting from side to side until surrender in the last point.

Other than one sloppy forehand to go 3-5 down, that was a very good tiebreaker. She finally cranked up the pace on her fourth set point - great tennis.

Mika had set points in the second set breaker at 6-5, 7-6.8-7, and finally 9-8...

One set all.

Intriguing contest between a better athlete and tennis shotmaker (Mika) and a better tactician (miss B).

I don't think Mika is a better athlete - Nikola is very light on her feet, very agile, Mika is strong - they're different athletic qualities

But it's certainly an intriguing contest :)

Mika's saved a MP, or - more precisely - Nikola blew it when she went for too much on the backhand return

But still *5-6

Well *5-6 and Mika held to 30. So a final set TB.
