Mackin breaks from deuce: 1-0 Mackin holds to 15: 2-0 Mackin breaks to 15: 3-0
Mackin serving:15-15...40-15...40-30 double fault...deuce...his first serve has suddenly deserted him...ad Verdasco...broken, Mackin failed to get 4 1st serves in at the end of that game.
Mackin is whipping through this second set (hopefully he can keep it up this time!) The first lasted nearly an hour, this has so far been 3 games in 5mins!!

Maybe I was premature saying Mackin was whipping through this set. Hopefully he can hold here and keep the one break. Mackin has won all points on his 1st serve this set, however, he has only got 46% of 1st serves in. He's won 1/7 points on his second serve. Verdasco has made 4 double faults this set, contributing to his being broken twice!

Mackin breaks from deuce: 1-0 Mackin holds to 15: 2-0 Mackin breaks to 15: 3-0 Mackin broken: 3-1 Verdasco holds to 30: 3-2 Mackin holds to 30: 4-2 Verdasco takes the first love hold of the match: 4-3
Mackin: 15-0...15-15...30-15...30-30 this is a must hold for Mackin...40-30...1st serve fault, deuce...bp Verdasco...Verdasco breaks as Mackin fails to get his serve in again. This could be curtains.

Verdasco serving, Mackin needs to pressurise this serve at the very least. 15-0...15-15 foot fault on 2nd serve!...15-30 come on Mackin!...30-30...40-30 not good...game Verdasco.

Mackin serving to stay in the match: 15-15...15-30...30-30...40-30...held, phew.
Mackin's serve is his big weapon as we know but from the stats I would say it's his second serve that lets him down, the points won on second serve is woeful and pretty much the only stat where Verdasco (ranked 31) is completely outclassing him, everywhere else they are pretty even.

Verdasco serving, Mackin needs to break as unless his first serve works everytime I can't see him winning the tiebreak (if he gets that far). 15-15...30-15...40-30...game Verdasco

Mackin to serve: the break between sets is longer than usual, so either one of them is taking a comfort break or they are taking a time out? Hope Mackin is OK.
In the second set both Mackin and Verdasco won 45 points so it's pretty even between them, which is very good by Mackin even if Verdasco is a clay-courter he's still at no31!
Lee v. Stakhovsky 6-4: 2nd set:
Stakhovsky holds: 0-1 Lee holds to 30: 1-1
Lee to serve: 15-15...he holds to 30. 15-40...30-40...Lee breaks! Stak to serve: 0-15
