When Andy met Andre

From: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,3-2006260413,00.html

ANDY MURRAY fulfilled his childhood dream yesterday — by playing against tennis legend Andre Agassi.

The pair practised at Queen’s Club in London ahead of the Stella Artois Championships which begin on Monday.

SunSport columnist Murray has been on the full ATP tour for 12 months and this was the first time the pair have ever met.

Agassi, likely to be playing the grass court season for the last time before retiring, spent nearly two hours with the British whizkid.

Murray, 19, said: “It was great to play against Andre. He hits the ball so hard and it was a real test to face him.”

During the session, American Agassi — who sat out the clay court circuit to be fit for Queen’s and Wimbledon — willingly gave advice to Murray, who is currently looking for a new coach.

And in a rigorous workout, the British No 2 showed no signs of the back injury which wrecked his chances of beating Gael Monfils in the first round of the French Open.

Yesterday’s session was undoubtedly one of the highlights of Murray’s short but eventful career.

In his first exclusive column for The Sun in January, Murray revealed his two aims this year were to finish the season in the world top 20 — and play against Agassi, now 36.

The Scot said: “Agassi is without doubt one of my heroes. He’s one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.”

Agassi, meanwhile, is hopeful of returning to action after a difficult year due to a chronic back problem.

There are a couple of photos of Andy and Andre on the Sun online page. I would copy them here but I think special permission is required. Click the link in my above post to view the photos.
