Weeks 21 & 22 - French Open (Roland-Garros) - Paris, France (clay) - main draw

Be interesting to see what happens with seedings announcement. If Berrettini gets to semi final here he will probably be seeded for Wimbledon - despite not being in the main draw!! How does that play out?

My understanding is that places get done first, as per entry list rankings

And seeding is done effectively at the last minute, as per final rankings the Monday before

So Berretini would play qualis (assuming no wildcard), on his original entry list ranking

And then if he qualified, he'd be seeded if his ranking on the Monday prior to the event starting was of seeding level

Yes but seedings are announced before qualifying finishes aren't they?

Dont they make the main draw before qualies finishes as well? Or do I have that wrong?

If Berrettini is reaching the semis here, or beyond, then surely that idea of a wild card to Wimbledon becomes quite a real prospect. Hard to ignore him if he would have been seeded otherwise

All that said, Berrettini is 3rd alt of course, so probably will get in anyway as one or two drop away.

I see Arnaldi was already in www.wimbledon.com/pdf/update/referees/2026/MS_Entries.pdf so he wont be needing a wildcard.

Zverev on top v Jodar, 7-6 5-1 and about to take set two

Looks like they are indoors now, play on all but the top 2 courts is stopped

And Mensik (26/20 years old) beats Fonseca (28/19 years old) by 6-4 6-3 7-6(3) in two hours & 44 minutes.  Maybe we really are witnessing a changing of the guard this time.

Sounds like it was a great high quality match as well.

Im getting excited for the grass now to see which of these younger players can make an impact. Exciting times ahead.
