Boys & Girls: J30 Newport, GB - hard (indoor) (Week 20)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that if you put a low level tournament in a rather far-flung place you will get a very British draw, with good points wrapped up for your local players

The main draws are now up

Boys

Top 4 seeds: Alex Winder; IND; Casey Unitt; Ryan Szeto

Wildcards: Max Lendrum; Oskar Laskowski

Qualifiers: Toby Shaw; JPN; Oliver Westbrook; Jacob Edmondson; Oscar Palmer (LL)

Girl

Tops 4 seeds: Judy Zhang; Sophie Johnstone; IRL; Rose Clifton

Wildcards: Freya Walters; Emma Fitzgerald; Sophie Florence; Sienna Grace

Qualifiers: Matilda Carey; IND; Sasha Zlotnik; Mia Zhou

I'm not sure Newport is that far flung...
However maybe the LTA should invest in champuonship facilities in the west of Wales, the outer hebridies and the scilly isles.

If you were coming from France / Spain / Italy etc, you'd definitely think that Newport was far flung

Girls

All R1 matches are now complete

Well done to Lilia Saad, with an excellent win over the Italian 5th seed

And even more excellent win by 14 year-old Matilda Carey who took out the Irish 3rd seed

Only the very precicious 13 year-old Indian girl left in now, in terms of foreign players (she was very impressive for her age, at the Connaught club recently)

Otherwise an all-Brit affair

Boys

Again, we have a token foreign representative, another Indian player, this time the second seed

But an all-Brit draw apart from that

Special shoutout to Dario who beat the Aussie 5th seed
