Well, we've got 5 who are the higher ranked player in the match

So three is pretty miserable cry

(although may be right.....)

I'm not optimistic of too many wins as it is clay after all, but just wonderful to see 12 Brits in the draw! Not long ago that we had 2-3 players at best in RG qualies.

Yeah, per Sheddie - dont see our higher ranked players as being on this right surface vis a vis their opponents - at least not in all cases. My three was actually 2 wins and 2 maybes, so I made it into 3 to be positive!

Yes but we often just assume that our guys are not the best on clay, and focus purely on them, whereas there are a lot of other guys who aren't best on clay

i.e. Dane Sweeny hasn't played a single match on clay this year (just done the Asian hard swing)

Coleman Wong is the same - no clay at all

Whereas Blanchet has played 7 matches on clay this year - and lost 6

etc

I'm not saying ours will win (and there are obviously a couple who are true clay courters) but focusing on our lack of prowess of clay should be tempered by the same in a lot of the others

Just curious re the money, and the neutrals

And Jon and Sheddie, you should get your betting shoes on

GB lads are the strong favourites in 5 matches tomorrow, and the slight favourite in one

Maybe. Dont bet though!

My two winners are Jan and Arthur in fact, Jay and Evo my maybes- hence the 3.

Well, I'll put 10p on Aziz for you then Jon - coz otherwise it's hot air biggrin

....Just done it....

You've got Aziz at 3.25 (v Felix at 1.33)

I'll donate the winnings to charity biggrin

Haha - winnings can go to the hot air balloon society then!

Can anyone shed some light on Dan?  He has a fortuitous draw here. He seems not to be entered for the Birmingham 125 grass challenger which is odd if he has any desire to continue his career.  His ranking is high enough for direct entry. Plus he is a Brummie lad.

I know you'd need an archaeologist to dig up Dan's last win, but what's so special about his opponent who hasn't been anywhere near the top 1000 yet, and even if he's been burning it up on the junior circuit we know that that's no guarantee of success at this level? Frankly, if even an unfit Dan can't win that then he should have given up already.

Will be interesting to see where Dan is at. I can see the grass court swing this year maybe being his swansong.
