Week 20 - Grand Slam - Roland Garros, Paris, France - Clay

Only saw the last set of Katie

That'll do

She got the job done

Didn't give Akasha TOO much hope (a little but that's all)

And can now relax that her 'easy' match is done, and a victory chalked up

On the face of it, certainly can't complain about the seeds they've been bracketed with.

Potentially (4) Gauff for Katie and (8) Andreeva for Fran is another day, another round, and it would be very good just to get to R3.

Potapova is representing Austria these  days.   She also won junior  Wimbledon in 2016.

Great result for Fran after last week's disappointment, hopefully she can get back into the Top 100 in time for the US Open.

Disappointing for Emma but having missed most of the clay court season perhaps not a huge surprise, will do her good to get back on the Grass ASAP.

Emma's next tournament is Queens followed by Berlin and/or Eastbourne, depending on how she is doing.

Every single wildcard lost in round 1. And the French overall having a very bad tournament, Boissons loss was not a surprise but sends her freefalling down to around 150.

 Only in the women smile

I think there's been four wildcard wins in the men's

But, yes, the French are suffering

Luckily young Moise Kouamé, born 2009, won his R1 match over Cilic today - and played very well

So they're focusing on that biggrin

R1:- Katie Boulter (GBR) / Yulia Putintsava (KAZ) CR415 (234+181) lost to Ellen Perez (AUS) / Demi Schuurs (NED) CR47 (23+24) [7] 1-6 (5)6-7

Poor first set, but quite competitive in the second and started to look like a doubles pair
