Week 16 – ITF W50 Roehampton, Great Britain - Hard

Some thoughts on today's matches

Katy - played her usual game and won comfortably
Millie - struggled against Manon's slicey play and did well to keep it respectable
Lily - a long close battle. Didn't see the last set, but Lily withdrew from doubles so I guess she ran out of gas.
Emily - always going to be a tough match, but it was pretty close for a long time, although Victoria's weight of shot probably made the difference.
Indianna - hadn't seen her play before. Looked to have a good serve and groundstrokes (not so easy to tell from the side view).
The other matches were on the further pair of courts, so couldn't really follow them. That includes Alicia, who was tested by young Ophelia before running away with it. I must say that Ophelia looks very young for a 16 year old - she will surely improve greatly over the next couple of years.

Had a long chat with Katy over lunch about all sorts of things ranging from coaching, training, hotels, flats, restaurants .........

Back tomorrow for the second round.

Katy D lost in a three setter and Allegra lost to her higher ranked opponent.

Stiff breeze here again today, making serving difficult - 24 double faults in Katy's match. A bit frustrating really, Katy was running away with it in the first set, despite losing serve twice,
