In the final British match of R1 Ruby is giving as good as she gets against the top seed Harmony Tan.

2 breaks each, Ruby came back from *1-4 to 4-4*

Now 5-5*

Shame about Marni - she was looking good at the start.
I had to give in soon after 4pm, 6 hours was enough for one day.

Katy and Lily have given a walkover to Esther and Victoria. Must be Lily as Katy was absolutely fine when I was talking to her at lunchtime.

Ruby looks to giving it a great effort. She came back from *1-4 down again in the second set to this time serve for the set at *5-4. I tuned in at *30-30 to see her hit a very tentative shot into the net and then DF to be broken. So I have left her to get on with it herself.

5-7 5-5*

I see that she just got one more point in the last 2 games.

So Ruby lost by 7-5 7-5

Both players fairly evenly matched but Ruby let her game slip at the end of each set, particularly the 2nd where she was serving for the set at 5-4.

I was filling it in while watching Ruby wink

Yes, very good day. Saw a little of all of the matches and had a few chats with people. Bit breezy there today and a bit chilly. The big tree by court 3 was shedding pollen all over the place.

I'll post some thoughts on the matches later.

It threatened to be a better day for the Brits than it ended resultswise..

We had 3 players better ranked than their opponents plus the 2 all Brit matches, and we did end up with 5 wins if not the 5 higher ranked players. Very good win by Katy against the 4th seed and tbf Lily was only very narrowly the better ranked in the match she lost in 3 sets to the 7th seed ( based on last week's rankings )

Look forward to the reports.
