Poor Elena. I hope she recovers OK. I really admire her, i can't think of many people who would be so detirmined and come back so many times after injuries. Best wishes to her.

She has a prolapsed disc in her back...ouchhh!

The 22-year-old world number 210 will attempt to remedy her long-term back problem by having surgery on a prolapsed disc on Wednesday.

I wonder who Scotland will replace her with in the Aberdeen Cup in Novemeber ???

Who is the next top-rated Scot in the ladies game...anyone...before I track her down !

Edit : Karen Paterson...thought it was her but wanted to check...WTA ranking 419 and is the GBR No 9 !

I really hope that Elena is able to make a good recovery from this latest setback. It must be so, so hard for her psychologically as her career in the last couple of years has just been one injury after another. I feel so sorry for her as she has the talent to be a top 100 player but her body just doesn't seem to allow her to compete on a regular basis. It must be incredibly frustrating as whenever she builds up some form, she's struck down again by another injury/illness.

Apart from Bally and Karen, are there any other Scots in the top 1000 ? Karen really is an excellent shot-maker, I've seen her a couple of times and she's just blown opponents off the court, it always amazes me that she isn't ranked higher - she seems to be stuck between 400 and 450.
