RE: British Tennis Forum April 2026 Player of the Month Award - Nominations thread

1. Isaac Sallu - won the national under 16 boys singles, entered as a wild card and won the whole thing, without losing a set. Excellent performance and he hails from Ilkley area, so not bad on all fronts

2. Liam Broady - won the Challenger 50 title in Miyazaki (wonder if Lily sent him a congrats message?!) with a win over Harry w in the final; hes third challenger title of his career, first since 2023 and followed up later in the month with a semi final in the CH 125 in Busan, which takes him into the FO qualies direct entry spots at around 220 in the live rankings as of writing. Well done, Liam

3. Daniella Britton - won the 16U National Championships. Won all her matches in two sets, not really breaking a sweat. And then won the 18U National Championships. Did the double. And still only age 15. Daniella then followed up with the J200 singles title in Aldershot (seeded 5th) beating the US 1st and 4th seeds, and then 2nd seed Hollie Smart in taking the title.

4. Sofia Johnson - the 21 yo ex college player significantly stepped up her still very early tour career with a USA W35 title from qualifying, beating WRs 471 and 470 in the SF and final. Takes her to 64 points from 7 counters, to live ranked 671 and GB #24.

5. Mark Ceban - boys 18U national champion. In style. And one year young. Mark then followed up with the J200 singles title in Aldershot where, seeded 2, he beat the top seed in the final

6. BJK Cup team, went to Australia as the underdogs without our top 4 ranked players and shocked the home nation by winning all 3 live rubbers. Mika playing her first BJKC rubber stunned Gibson (WR56) over 200 places above her to get GB going, Harriet leading the team made it 2-0 to end day 1 and Jodie and Harriet playing together for the first time beat Storm and Perez who were, according to the commentary, 5 BJK matches unbeaten without dropping a set prior to give GB the whitewash before the dead rubber.

7. Harry Wendelken - 2 successive runs to Challenger 50 singles finals ( Miyazaki and Wuning ) saw him rise to a CH 223 ( GB #12). His Wuning run included a CH win in the QF against rhe top seed Clement Chidekh WR 179.

8. Alfie Hewett - took the singles and doubles titles in the big WC 1000 Japan Open with a victory over arch rival Oda, the world #1, and on his opponents home turf. His second straight win over Oda and also took the doubles with long time partner Gordon Reid, the pair also returning to form after a - by their standards- poor past 12 months or so and moving back to equal 1st in the doubles rankings once more.

9. Mika Stojsavljevic- Truly sensational BJK debut from Mika. The 17 year old winning her singles against Australias Gibson in Melbourne , ranked more than 200 places above her. Underlining the great future that she has.

10. Cam Norrie - Following his good results in March, more good results this month. Quarter finals in Barcelona, R16 in Madrid including fighting wins against Machak and Wawrinka. Unluckily drawn against Sinner in Madrid R16 but Cams in good clay court form this month , after a great Indian Wells last month. This consistent form has seen him rise to an ATP ranking of #19, making him the highest ranked British player, male or female.

11. Freya Christie and Eden SIlva - winning back to back doubles titles at Roehampton W50 and Nottingham W35 - the latter for the loss of only one game against the top seeds.

12. Joe Tyler - winning the M25 Notts doubles title - this is his first title at this level in 2026 - at age 27 - showing there's always more to come - onwards and upwards

13. Henry Patten - wins the Madrid Masters title with Harri H, his second ever Masters title after Paris last year, and takes the pair to top of the Race and Henry to equal 3rd in the rankings. Proving themselves the current top pair in the game!

I added Henry but also edited Joe to show it was an M25 title for him and thus changes some of the narrative. I hope you dont mind CD, change it back as you will but felt it important to get the title level correct and clarify it isnt his best yet, just his best this season!

I thought it was all about equality now

Men don't have M35s?

There you go - I didn't even understand Indy's post - I somehow thought we were all 35s now - never even bothered looking, week in, week out

Serves me right for trying to be nice to men's doubles

I'll go back to 11 year-olds .....
