L16:- Ella McDonald (GBR) WR473 def Ana Sofia Sanchez (MEX) WR203 [4] 6-1 6-4
Ella's second best win by ranking (Osuigwe WR152, Birmingham WTA125 June 2025)
An excellent win - I think Ella's best win was against Ana Bogdan at Eastbourne in 24. Ana was WR 50 or 80.
You are right, and Ana was WR50 at the time. Strangely that match doesn't appear in Ella's record on tennisabstract.
I suspect for whatever reason that Eastbourne 2024 isnt in their database, an error. Bogdan results or any other Ella results from that event dont seem to appear.
I always wonder how sites like TA or LTR or TNNS update their draws, results and rankings so quickly. Presumably it cant be a manual update as a) that would be prone to error and very time consuming to do b) they must take some sort of feed that then creates an automatic update - they seem to almost do it within a small amount of time of a result being known.
I would be interested to know how those types of feeds work, anyone got any insights where they take the data from, is it directly from ATP and WTA, ITF?
They'll get their data from an API either from a secondary data provider who get their data from the APIs from the official data providers or from the official data provider directly. It's something I've looked into in the past to build a site with a British perspective but they're too expensive for a hobby.

Thanks Lambda - I googled API as it isnt my thing, tech! Application Programming Interface? Or do you mean something else, like some sort of organisation? Are the data providers something like the ATP (presumably they own the data for mens pro tennis on the ATP tour?) are is the data provider something like a gambling firm?
As I understand it - those responsible for feeds are
ATP - ATP and Men's Challengers
WTA - WTA and 125 events
ITF - Women's and men's futures (15K and25/35K) and women's challengers (w50 to w100)
How about the Grand Slams and their qualifying events? The WTA do the women's main draw but only seem to do the qualifying draw after both rounds have been completed.

Yes, thats what I mean by API. By data provider I mean whoever the ATP, WTA and ITF have sold their data rights to, or in the case of the ATP sub-licensed distribution rights . That'll be the likes of Sportradar and Infront.
