Impressive wins from both today. Paul's match was the definition of an attritional slugfest on a very slow surface. Bit of drama in the final game, Paul was 0-30 down on his serve, and on the next point, was convinced that his serve was a let and hit a weak forehand. It didn't get called by the umpire, and Giustino dominated the point to get to 0-40 and 3 break back points.
Paul's fuming, having worked really hard for the break at 4-4. Shouts at the umpire, "You have one job, you don't need to even watch the lines. The one person who didn't hear it is the one who matters."
Anyway, it seemed to distract Giustino more than Paul, and he saved all three break points to serve it out! Now back up to WR286
Toby's match had a little bit of drama as well. The Frenchman was complaining bitterly midway through the second set about some spectator up in the gallery who he was convinced was trying to distract him, and wanted him to lose. Began shouting at him from the other end of the court.
At this point, Toby was cruising at 6-4, *4-1 with a double break. Clearly seemed to switch the momentum a bit as he came roaring back. I had to get one with some work, but next thing Toby's serving to stay in the set at *4-5. Did well to get the job done in straight sets.
Toby leads by a set and a break. I didn't see any of the first set, but Tobes won it 6-2. There is fierce hitting, it is a decent spectacle. I can't see Dostanic turning this around.
Toby wins 6-2, 7-5. The second set was closer than I thought it was going to be. Perhaps Dostanic played slightly better than at the start of the set. Toby missed multiple break point opportunities. He is in another final, he is getting used to winning matches day in , day out and this is an important skill.

Dostanic hadn't lost a set all week and beat no 4 seed Copperjeans 6-3 6-4 in the QF so he must be in good form. So that's a decent win for Toby, I think and I agree it shows how helpful the winning mentality can be.
Toby now 14 successive wins, winning 28 of his last 29 sets.
So far added 100 ranking points ( net 99 ) from these 3 weeks and live ranked up 60 places to live ranked 184, as all 3 of these tournsments will add in in next Monday's rankings.
25 further ranking points if he can win another final.
As Sheddie says tremendous rise over the last year, and it's showing no signs of easing down.
