Good to see Hollie back and winning. I wondered where she had got to.

Hollie bounds into the semis. Her opponent there is on a 15 match unbeaten streak, albeit a mix of J60, J100 and now J200 events

SF

Carlota Moreno (USA) v (2) Hollie Smart

Well done Hollie.

Hoping she can take the title.

Has she won an event above J100?

Hollie hasn't even won a J100 - just J60 and J30 events.  Its a problem for her in terms of progression up the rankings (as well as confidence) in that her points portfolio is flat.  Her sixth counter is 100 points (J200 semis and J300 quarters) but her top counter is only 150 (J500 quarters) so she needs to at least reach finals at this level to improve her ranking, and really the title is required to make a significant difference.

Yes. It's an unusual points profile.

On the one hand, all her counters are from the second half of the year, most from really late in the year, so it gives her a lot of leeway now

On the other hand, as you say, it's so flat, it gives her little room for upside

Although at least that shows consistency

The interesting thing is that we're moving into the clay season which, traditionally, would always be considered Hollie's best surface

I'm hopeful for a breakthrough into the top echelons
