British Tennis Forum Player of the Month Vote - February 2026

Given that the last update has come in, and I have a window now before my first work meeting, then let's get this show underway.

12 players nominated. Usual process, vote for who you think is the player of the month.

Given it is still Monday morning, I am going to go for a Tuesday night finish and let's see if we can get a decent haul of votes in.

No tie breaks - if there is a draw, it stays a draw. Vote will close automatically at 11.40 PM Tuesday

Top 2 players (and ties) qualify for 2026 Player of the Season, as always. Interesting set of 12 players this month.

If you vote, please do comment and say who and why - it really helps engagement with the thread and the vote and keeps it more vibrant!

Nominations

1 Katie Boulter - for winning Ostrava 250. Katies form was not the best in 2025 and early 2026 ( understatement) . It saw her fall out of the top 100 . But this was a great way to take those steps back to recover it. A couple of 3 set battles against Havlickova and Korpatsch. Convincing wins over Fruhrvitova, , no 5 seeded Golubic and Volynets. Now comfortably back inside top 100. She has now gone on to reach the quarterfinals of the Merida 500 event, making it 7 wins in a row. Nice turnaround from Katie.

2 Hephzibah Oluwadare - for her singles contribution towards Ohio State making the National Team Indoor Championships final - OSU women's team first ever nationals final. Her wins in the championships included a defeat of last season's No 23 while under immense pressure for the winning team point which resulted in the tournament's biggest upset of Ohio State knocking out the pre-tournament favourites UNC in the QF, reportedly saying it's the hardest thing she has ever done. Her performance earned her the Big Ten Freshman of the week award.

3. Yanziye (Judy) Zhang - born 2011 - age 14 and 3 1/2 months - won the singles title at the J30 in Liverpool - her first title (we've got a good crop of 2011-ers)

4. Annabel Wong (born 2010) - Miss 'I-(nearly)-never-lose-a-final' - has just done the double, winning singles and doubles at the J60 in Denmark. Annabel has a very handy knack of winning titles, this is her 4th singles and 2nd doubles title. It's also her 3rd singles title on the trot. She's never lost a final (that I can see - add: but should have gone to specsavers)

5. Felix Mischker - won the W25 doubles title in Turkey. Age 22, this is his first ITF title at this level (I believe) and Felix is a good guy, who's had quite a lot of interest on this forum, due to him and his brother, his Youtube site, his stories, fund raising efforts etc etc. Good luck to him

6. Jack Pinnington-Jones - from qualies, had a breakthrough week in terms of international recognition at the Dallas Open ATP 500 event where he reached the last 8. In the process beat world number 20, Cobolli, as well as wins over Spizzirri and Kypson - 3 of his best wins ever by rank. As a result, improves to a new CH and GB number 5 level of just inside the top 140 and possibly higher by month end.

7. Dahnon Ward - Taking the title in the Bolton 100 Indoor Mens Wheelchair singles. His week as a whole has been amazing. Ranked 43 coming in, he beat fellow Brit Joshua Johns, 7th seed (WR29) Charrier, 32nd ranked Israeli Berdichevsky, WR42 Cooper of the USA, and then 2nd seeded Anderson Parker of Australia, WR 21 for what looks like his best title in a number of years, if not his best ever (tournie rating system has changed recently so hard to tell)

8. Sofia Johnson - as a qualifier WR 1218 won the W15 Palm Ct USA beating the top seed WR 453 score 4&2 in the final, a career best win by ranking to win her first pro title, elevating her into the top 1000 for the first time.

9. Henry Patten - winning back to back ATP 500 titles in Doha and Dubai, doing so without losing a set with his partner Harri. Won 5 of their last 6 tournies and 3 this year.

10. Maia Lumsden - a career first ( biggest ever ) WTA 500 doubles final achieved with her regular partner, Isabelle Havelag, with straight set wins until beaten in the final by the 2nd seeds (CR 56). In the 4 weeks she moved up from doubles WR 78 to WR 68.

11. Indianna Spink - winning her first ITF title at the Manacor W15 at the age of 23. The points will lift her from her current ranking of 921 to around 790

12. Felix Gill - two excellent weeks in India, with a final and a semifinal back to back in challenger 75 events. His first challenger final, saw his ranking rise to a new career high of nearly 250 at the end of the month, up around 70/75 places in the month and up to GB #15

Certainly Jack PJ for me. What a breakthrough week as brought out in his narrative above.

Apologies to my recently declared favourite player, Katie B. You were next.

I also went for Jack PJ, real breakthrough for sure. Others could easily have got my vote, Katie, Sofia, Henry, Felix G as well. But Jack just edged it for me

6 votes in so far across 4 players. I will start putting some scores up tonight when we hit the 24 hour marker. With it starting in the working day, the vote will probably take time to gain momentum, so could well be one where we don't see much action until the evening and second day

A lot of really excellent performances in Feb, especially at the lower levels/college (lovely to see Hep doing well!) but JPJ is the standout for me in going far beyond expectations at the start of the tournament.

I mulled over this one, settling on a choice of 2 - Katie B and JPJ. It was tricky but in the end I went for Katie B. After failing to string two victories together towards the second part of last year and dealing with injury, she has come to life again, new coach, new mindset, new hopes and aspirations. WTA 250 title under her belt and QF in WTA 500 and we are only in March. Its tough coming back after injury but Katie got my vote for her sheer determination and self belief.

thanks Var - could develop into an interesting vote; it is very early days but I wonder if a clear top 3 (or 4) will emerge this evening

I plumped for Henry in the end. To be honest it could easily have been Katie or Jack instead. All worthy winners!

Thanks Jan - as things stand, they all have a decent shout currently although it does look like it is going to come down to a few players.
