I think it will now go to next in.  Can someone lose in the playoffs and still get a qWC?

Yes. The precedent is for the highest ranked SF loser to get the spot.

Surely, that gives huge possibilities for corruption -- the highest ranked semi-finalist can throw the semi-final match for a bribe and qualify anyway.  (Not suggesting that any individual would do it of course).

I believe as said that there have been such precedents ( although was it actually stated that the reason was higher ranked? ) but presumably no rule or even indication that that will happen this year, though it looks likely to be one of the play-off losing semi finalists. I agree thst it it would be a real problem if more definite or if they go and indicate that the higher ranked losing semi finalist will get the nod this yesr. Got to leave it open whatever folks' suspicions may be..

Looks like it has gone to last year's Boys Champion Ivan Ivanov, so no extra Brit.

Ivanov had one of the original wild cards - there are still 3 places available in the draw which is at 125 currently - the two play off wildcards plus the wildcard vacated by Oli crawford not needing it any longer

It is a shame they've had to give some non Brit ones! We will have quite a few in Qualifying who have previously won MD matches... And likes of Ali G who have but can't even get through the pre Qualies! Some missing out all together who if got nice draws you wouldn't put it past them! Sad in a way but shows good depth!

Dan posted on Insta as expected. Post about giving up Washington tournament to play doubles at Olympics for GB with Andy. My worry from this is I saw some terrible comments about one of the Brits that got a wildcard MD, I hope the trolls dont take it out on them. Despicable.

I totally missed Ivanov on the original announcement. Lesson learned to double check no

No, I don't see a problem giving a qWC to the junior champ if they need it.
