This whole scores, or no scores, or whatever, is daft - in my not-so-humble opinion biggrin

Everyone does things their own way, that's the point of a forum, as opposed to a bespoke website that has a mandated, uniform format

The only 'rule' is that people shouldn't be rude - to each other, or to the players

As long as that's respected, information is information, opinion is opinion, and everyone chips in with their contribution - it's a melting pot smile

Okay. I won't bother visiting this forum then if I only have to go off somewhere else to see what the score was or what the name of the Chinese lady that x is playing is. I mean what value is there to anybody in posting Harriet is playing an unseeded Chinese lady. You might as well just say Harriet is playing a tennis player for all the value that is.

You just come to the forum to check scores?

plenty of apps for that

I mean if someone says Harriet won in straight sets you only need to scroll up a couple of posts to see who she is playing?

All contributions welcome in my book.

Err, TA doesn't just come to check scores, he provides scores ( lots of them!! ) and however easily folk may be able to find these elsewhere that is extremely valuable, especially in this forum which has traditionally provided all scores in full and these are then archived as a valuable reference for the future.

Edit- sorry was mixing up TA and Lambda ( who also doesn't just come to check scores but for these with an interest provides a huge amount of vsluable college tennis info ).

FWIW personally I find some value in being made aware just that someone has won or lost. And it has almost always been reliable info such as it, so I can immediately update some of my ranking sheets based on that and / or also check the score or await someone such ss TA or SC to provide more info.

But I would ask Johnny Aitch please to provide further info where you are aware of it rather than unnecessariy leave such an extra bit to such valued members of the forum and / or ask you to communicate as to why you don't / ( can't? ). Providing such info would make you a more valued member of our community and frankly less annoying.

And TA, certainly please don't leave. As far as I can see Johnny's presence and info is 'just' not reducing your workload as it potentially could but isn't really adding to it. So at worst continue doing what you have clearly enjoyed doing over the years rather than leave in haste and then regret it.

Indi, it wasn't me threatening to leave, and after almost ten years of logging in every day I have no intention of leaving. But it does annoy me that most of the time I post the results within minutes of the end of a match, often after watching the live stream, and find that minimal information has been posted at the same time.

Lambda - your presence on this forum is immensley valuable and you add an enormous amount to our overall knowledge. I always read your college posts, even though I remain bewildered at the complxity of the college system.

Apologies TA. And Lambda, don't you be leaving either! - again, you have nothing less ( and briefly slightly more ) than you would otherwise have had.

I guess it's too late now, but to add to what Indy said which I agree with, it is unsatisfying to just see eg straight sets, which could potentially mean 2 hard fought tie break sets or a double bagel ,which obviously makes a huge difference.

What I find very annoying is people being annoyed by people not posting exactly as they would wish! So Johnny Aitch please stay and post exactly as you wish!

Oh blimey - missed all the fun!

Everyone sleep on it and dont be leaving. I hope to hear of a straight sets win tomorrow for someone and enjoy reading the detailed scores a little later, and the college updates as well.

If I dont, Ill probably leave myself ! And no one would like that! I did it once before and creating a new account when you come back is a right old pain!

Please don't - there's room for everyone smile people who are annoyed, people who aren't ... because you can't let one person's opinion count for everything when someone else's opinion says the opposite - i.e. one 'not-annoying' vote cancels out one 'annoying' vote smile

I saw her have an MTO at 1-4 down in the first - it looked like to be her shoulder, but - honestly - the camera was a long way away and it was a small screen so I could well be wrong

Do hope it's a minor thing
