Intriguing battle between Max and Ryan. Ryan was a break up a couple of times but Max has just reeled off 4 or 5 games in a row to take the first set 6-3.

Conditions look pretty slow, Max playing very solid tennis

Another retirement - Max goes through as Ryan retires at 6-3, 3-0 down

Something clearly wasn't right as his game just started leaking errors and he had a timeout after the first set

But decent break for Max, should see him up another 10 places to about 310 in the rankings, and right on the cusp of the top 300 if he wins tomorrow.
