Q1: Sonay Kartal (GBR) [Q2] WR66 v Yulia Starodubtseva (UKR) WR110

They played twice in 2024 with Yulia winning in three in the first and Sonay winning 6(4) & 2 in the 2nd.

Added the seeding.

The WTA haven't published any draws yet, and Em wasn't on the OOP yesterday. Two doubles players.....both alts after two players were moved into the main draw. A nice $6,330 bonus (according to TNNS)

Very nice for Em to sneak in here - that prize money will make a difference and it was on the stadium court! I couldn't find a stream, I guess because of the late switch-up, but looks like it was a bit of a battle, she saved 10 of 13 break points. Piter hadn't played singles since 2022 but was top 100 at her best. Em will now retain a singles ranking until at least October.

L16:- Olivia Nicholls (GBR) / Tereza Mihalikova (SVK) CR56 (26+30) [4] v Darija Jurak Schreiber (CRO) (CH=9 in 2021, she is 41) / Katarzyna Piter (POL) UNR (UNR+51)

Liv reached the SF here last year with Olivia Gadecki, so has 195 points to defend. Tereza was injured and missed this week.

No place for Em and Kat. They both played and lost in qualifying, Kat 3 & 0 so maybe she is injured.

Pretty sure the cut-off was a combined ranking in double figures. Suspect they've signed in but a few spots out.

Shreiber doesn't have a singles or doubles ranking - and they didn't get a wild card according to the official WTA draw. (Kostovic and Yastremska did)

Better known as Darja Jurak - she's got a PR of 14 I think.

 I'll try and find out. She hasn't played singles since March 2021 and doubles since April 2022 (WR22)
