Katie S served at 5-4 but dropped her serve, really loose game for her. No mistake in the tie break though. She seems to be moving well. Come on Katie.

Swan played well in the first set, despite a few nerves on the serve at critical times, and did well to force the tie-break from 5-6 down. Then played the tiebreak really well to take the set. However from the start of the 2nd set, it was obvious that there was a niggling right arm issue, and that tipped the balance to her opponent. There wasn't much more that could be done, because the consistency in the rally wasn't there anymore.
It's frustrating to see Katie still suffering from injuries and I know others on here think she will never be fit for long enough to be a top player. I've always been optimistic that she will come through and make the top 100, but every time she gets another injury, a little part of me thinks 'oh no, not again', and the number of niggling injuries she gets is really worrying.
It will be interesting to see if she is fit enough to continue in the doubles here, and of course with a partner who has just beaten her in singles. A bad night for Katie, but still keeping my fingers crossed for her. At least Katie can tell herself that Kayla Day is a pretty decent player and she did win the first set.
I'm disappointed Katie lost obviously. I was out last night and not able to see her match and feared she was undermined by her back/leg issue. So it being more of an arm issue has lifted my spirits about her this morning.
I feel pretty sure that it would be no issue whatsoever for Katie to be playing in the doubles with Kayla. That's not Katie's character at all.
