Week 4 - ITF M25 - Glasgow, Great Britain (indoor hard)

Well done to our 4 semi finalists.

Will already be a new CH for Lui when these points add in and probably a CH for James.

They will both move ahead of Henry who, approaching his 20th birthday and with points coming off, will continue to move in the wrong direction rankingswise.

No idea but looks possible. Was also on next week's Sheffield M25 list but he has withdrawn from that too

So all British semis

Broom v Hussey - feels like they must have met many times before and that turns out to be wrong. They have met twice and split 3 sets both times, with one win apiece. 3 setter again?

Story v Maxted - James beat Lui last time they played, albeit 3 1/2 years back.

I think these are almost impossible to call but I like the results James Story has had the past few months and reckon it could be a Story versus Broom final.

I reckon it will be a Broom vs Maxted final, both to win their SF in straight sets.

Charles and Giles are indeed in a third set and Charles looks like he has this one now at 3-0. Could be a twist, of course.

So the second semi also goes to a third set & Lui eventually emerges victorious after three hours & five minutes (& Indy wins his bet! smile):

SF:  (8) Lui Maxted WR 495 defeated (7) James Story WR 465 by 7-6(6) 5-7 7-6(5)

Well I lost one and won one. I had a double on them both to win in straight sets, which clearly lost. But I also had a double on them both to simply win, and overall I came out slightly in profit from these.

Also had a punt on Djokovic early in the 5th set to win his SF, which was quite a bit more profitable -  not thst I really wanted Djokovic to win.

My Sons philosophy when it comes to sports betting is to bet on the result you don't want, that way you win either way.

By the way, James clearly indicated that he thought Lui's final serve ( to take the TB 7-5 ) was out. He might have had a case, not sure, and there was no replay. He didn't make a huge meal of it.
