Jaqui O beat Eva Shaw in a third-set TB

Ciara won more easily

And in the men, it's Harry v Oliver

Per t discussion elsewhere. If Coffey or any other non Brit won this, would they get into the WC play offs? Do the rules say it has to be British players only,?

No, he wouldn't. Only GB players (as registered with the ITF) are allowed to play the play-offs

I'm following Eva's progress with real interest

For those who've ventured over to this thread, and don't remember, or weren't around:

Eva Shaw was national junior champion in both categories - in 2021, she won the 16U and 18U the same year - and also played a really talented, exciting game of tennis

BUT...... injuries derailed everything

And I don't know quite know where she is at the moment with that, Lambda might have a better idea from US college sites

But Eva's just beaten second seed Mia Wainwright 6-3 6-1

Erin Pearce also beat 3rd seed, Ciara Moore, 4 & 2

And Hollie Smart beat 7th seed, Ellie Blackford, 3 & 1

Meg Knight lost pretty easily to Lara Bakhaya

Ophelia K-Davies lost 3 & 1 to (q) Eloise Newberry

Brooke Black, top seed, also lost today, to Sophie Bekker

And 5th seed Ava Williamson lost too, to Edie

So, after a decimation of seeds, the women's QFs are:

Sophie Bekker v (q) Eloise Newberry

(4) Jaqui Ogunwale v Lara Bakhaya

Hollei Smart v Erin Pearce

Eva Shaw v Edie Griffiths

In the men, Max needed a MTB to come through

And Oliver Okonkwo lost 8-10 in his MTB, having legged it down from Ilkley

So the QFs are:

(1) Max Basing v (q) Toby Clarke

(LL) Casey Drake v (6) Ben Gusic-Wan

(4) Rhys Lawlor v (9) Henry Jefferson

(wc) Oliver Page v Mark Ceban

Eva has played the last 18 months without any apparent injury concerns but in the handful of college matches ive watched her I do wonder whether she is managing something from her previous injuries. I say that because a lot of the time it comes across to me that she is playing quite nonchalantly as though she's going through the motions and limits how she plays. That might just be her style and I'm perceiving her wrongly. It doesn't help that her team has been very poor the last couple of years. And she plays very quickly which probably contributes to my perception. I dont know, I just feel she's got a lot more in her.

Brooke losing to Sophie is not something I was expecting. I wonder if she's still carrying the injury she had at the back end of the college season.

Hollie doesn't need to win this for the playoff place. She already has a place as No 2 GB girl.

Mark Ceban has his place secure into the actual qualis, no matter what

Tx for your take on Eva

I've obviously no idea about the evolution of her injury - but she did always have a slightly nonchalent style - her and Ranah together were just dreadful in that regard

But it may well be injury related
