Boys & Girls: Tennis Europe U14 Category 1 Junior International, Bolton, indoor acrylic (week 3)

This curtain raiser for the under 14 season takes place a week before Les Petits As, attracting a strong field..  In total there are 15 British boys and 17 girls in the main draw.  British seeds are Oskar Laskowski (9), Frederick Fabricius (12) in the boys and Dasha Jones (5), Ginny Chen (10), Isabella Rebel (12) and April Sackflame (16) in the girls.

Matches start tomorrow with live scoring available here   and draws available on the Tennis Europe website

We are through to the last 16, and although we lost one British seed (Bella) the other 5 are through (Dasha with a double bagel, and April similarly but losing a set in between) and they are joined by 5 unseeded Brits. Pride of place goes to wildcard Caleb Griffith, who took out the Egyptian top seed. Also through are Max Hodkinson, Liam Sharkey, Naina Kapoor and Sophia Florence

I assume April and Dasha are playing this as a warm up for next week as they are playing regularly on ITF juniors

 April has been awarded a main draw wildcard for Les Petits As so joins Dasha (and Ginny) there

Only Dasha was seeded to make the quarters - yet there are 6 Britssmile  April comfortably dealt with the top seed and Dasha continued to hand out bakery products. There are two highly rated Japanese girls in the quarters (and 3 Americans) and Dasha meets one of those. Fred's next opponent was named after you know who.

Wins for Fred and Dasha (as well as Oskar in the all-Brit clash) means 3 semi-finalists. April lost out to one of the Americans, and the other two take the remaining girls semi places. Last British finalist here was Mark Ceban in 2023, who went on to win the trophy
