FWIW and non GB - I usually cant stand Moutet but he and Carlos put on a really entertaining match this afternoon. Alcaraz was always going to win but was a fun match to watch
I am lucky that have a ticket for John Cain tonight so will be supporting Cam later!
Musetti won today in 4 1/2 hours - and it makes him live ranked 3 in the world. He may not stay there but two Italians in the top 3; re Mediterranean players in the top 3.
Sinner beat Spizzirri in 4 sets but the American was 6-4 *1-0 up and 3-1 up in both the 3rd and 4th sets. They closed the roof at 3-1 in the 3rd because of the heat rule with Sinner cramping.

Every one of the mens last 16 is a seed. That must be a first in a very long time. 12 are top 16 seeds as well.
With 12 womens seeds left, 28 of 32 is pretty likely to be a recent record across the two singles events.
Indeed, in the men's, if you take out (7) Auger-A who retired in R1, his last 16 spot ultimately taken by (25) Tien, the other 3 non top 16 seeds to come through are (18), (19) and (22) beating seeds (13), (14) and (15).in L32 matches so not huge seeding shocks:
(18) Cerundola beat (13) Rublev, (19) Paul beat (14) Davidovich F, and (22) Darderi beat (15).Khachanov.
So other than that Felix-A spot the remaining 15 slots have been taken by top 22 seeds and even the 16th by seed (25), with after Felix-A the remaining 11 of the top 12 seeds coming through.
A bit of background about Learner Tien & an explanation of how he came by his absurd first name (his sister apparently rejoices in the name of Justice!).
Further to the top seeds coming through, it has certainly continued in the L16 to QF singies progression and the matches have been remarkably uncompetitive, I would imagihe to an unprecedented degree in terms of so few sets played.
In the overall 16 men's snd women's L16 matches,, the theoretical minimum number of sets appeared to he 40. They managed 39!
Men: The top 6 seeds came through, seed 8, and (25) Tien in R1 retiree (7) Auger-A's slot, beating (11) Medvedev in the L16. There were 6 straight set wins, Shelton won 6-4 in the 4th, and Djokovic won by a walkover.
Women: Again the top 6 seeds came through, (12).Svitolina beat (8) Andreeva, and (29) Jovic beat Putintseva to follow up her L32 win vs (7) Paolini. There were 7 straight set wins and Gauff won 6-3 in the 3rd.
Let's hope for some truly competitive matches in what remains, and not just in say another Alcaraz vs Sinner marathon final. Of course sport is unpredictable ( and that can include being unpredictably predictable! ) but I am sure the Melbourne crowds would rather like that.
