Week 2 - WTA250 - Hobart, Australia Hard

R1: Emma Raducanu (GBR) (1) WR29 v Camila Osorio (COL) WR 76

They met in Washington in 2022 with Emma winning 7-6(5) 7-6(4)

No sign of Sonay, she must have decided to take a rest after her last match.

Happy to see Emma play a 250 event. Good chance to get some form and matches back to back.

Can we hope for a second title?

Having had a niggle during the United Cup before her losing match my first priority is not to have a niggle during this round and then we'll see ..

You can dream but I think it unlikely even though Emma is the top seed. She is actually in probably the trickiest quarter of the draw. A possible path of Osorio, Frech, and Bouzas Maneiro to get to the semi final is full of danger and potential long three set matches.  She is as likely to lose in round 1 as to win it all.  Also we have no idea how fit she really is.

A fit Emma should have no trouble beating Osorio.

At least Maia was competitive but wtf is that scoreline for the top seeds!?

They only got back together again a couple of days ago as Liv was playing United Cup. Lack of practice together I reckon.

Not ideal really to be going in cold to the first slam.  Hopefully it is just needing a bit of time again as they've done really well last year.

When you consider that new pairs are being formed every event - and sometimes winning the title - so don't think that's an excuse.

... and they are very clearly far from a new pair. Disappointing

Didn't see the match, but have looked up the stats on TNNS.
Poor serving (30% points won). poor returning (36%), didn't take break points (1/5), broken often (6/7).
Just poor all round ..........
