As highlighted by Jon in the August PoM Nominations & Highlights thread, Dahnon went and won that Austrian Open title. Very well done, him!
"Dahnon Ward - WR 33 and unseeded, won the Austrian Open title, beating the 1, 2, 3 and 8 seeds (WR 15, 18, 19, 27) en route for a stunning title, including beating Ben Bartram in the final following 12 straight losses to him. Stunning title to win, surely the best effort of his career, certainly the biggest level tournament win of his career"

Thanks Indy, I commented there as you say and completely forgot to come over here!
It was a great title - sometimes one odd result can open but to cause 4 upsets in an event is really good going.
I havent checked todays rankings yet, but hopefully he will see a boost when the points come on

Looking at the points breakdown, Dahnon should replace last years 29 points at this event with 175, taking him to 710 points total. The WR 26 has 710 points at the moment, so depending on others losing points, he should move from 33 to around 26 or 27 in today's update. Feels like he deserves more!
His next points drop off will be end Nov though, so he may get the chance to rise further over the next 3 months or so.

Dahnon does indeed rise to 26th in the rankings (I must have got my calcs slightly wrong) so that is a good week of work for him.
Ben Bartram also rises a spot through getting to the final in Austria and sits 14th.

Gordon does play Fernandez in the last 4 today; Andrew Penney into men's doubles semis; Andy Lapthorne in quad singles semis action.
Our pairs are out of the womens events and quad doubles.
Gordon got through Fernandez but via a walkover and now plays top seeded de la Puente in today's final.
In the men's doubles, Andrew Penney and Conner Stroud made it into the final but they also gave a walkover there, which is a shame. Not sure which of them was injured.
And in the quad semis, Andy Lapthorne lost in 3 sets to Jin Woodman.
Another good week for Dahnon Ward, this time he is at the WC 100 event in Sion in Switzerland. Seeded 4th, he's reached the final, beating top seed Groenewoud in the semis, losing just 3 games. Dahnon seems to be progressing really well at the moment
