Very good piece ! What i expect AM to say...his opinions dont change easily !

It's a good article and Andy puts his points across very well. I can't help but think though that he should still be slightly more diplomatic in regards to the press though - a lot of the other papers won't take kindly to his good working relationship with guys like Neil Harmond, Jonothan Overend, and the guy at the Telegraph (whose name escapes me and it could come back and bite him eventually. I just think he needs to be a wee bit more diplomatic.

In fairness though I think guys like Jonothan Overend and Neil Harmon recognise this though because I was listening to the R5Sx commentary after his match to Monfils and one of them, not sure who, said that he hoped that in Andy's post match interview he wouldn't necessarilly tell the truth, but instead followed Tim Henman's example and said the right thing instead of the truthful thing at the press conference in regards to the questions.

I Know what you mean but a lot of the press are out for themselves and fairly close to plankton when it comes to thoughts and processes.....Andy like many others will not suffer those but the likes of Harman / Overend and others he will be happy to chat to and to listen to. Neil Harmans opinion of Andy has never changed as far as i can tell.Great talent, dont expect to much to soon and give the lad a break. Jonathan from R5L also sees the sense in calming expectations down a bit and had a good interview with Judy Murray some time back where she seemed to appreciate the questions he was asking.

So long as Andy can cope with the consequences, I think he should continue to be honest with/about the press. Whilst I mean no insult whatsoever to Tim, it is refreshing and adds a little extra spice to following this young man's career

. Even if the press completely tear Andy apart (so long as he doesn't care/doesn't read it) the only outcome I can see is that the public don't care soo much for him, reducing the pressure at Wimbledon - a good thing don't you think?

The true fans (and I include everyone on this site in that) are more knowledgeable and could not be hoodwinked by bad press coverage.

I agree - I really love his honesty and it is such a nice change. I guess I just worry about how the 'two weeks a year' tennis fan will take to him if the press do decide to go after him. I mean look at the abuse poor Tim gets, and they actually like him.
