I'm suprised she has done so well so quickly. We know the talent is there, but she has been out for months and has not played a lot of tennis since, so i didnt think the match fitness would be there yet.
I think Katy will be the first to admit that the match fitness isn't there yet. Her injuries were shoulder and elbow and she seems to have recovered well from them now.

She was out for just over 3 months from early August to early November and has now played 11 matches in 4 tournaments since returning. So more than half her matches have been in this event.

Katy missed a sp at 5-3* and then completely fell apart at *5-4 sending everything miles long. And then compounded it by throwing in a couple of dodgy droppers at *5-6 and I think only won 2 points in the last 3 games to lose the first set 5-7.
F:- Katy Dunne (GBR) WR847 [Q3] lost to Hibah Shaikh (USA) WR472 5-7 0-6
Struggling to finish the match in the end, holding the top of her left leg. Six matches in a week was one too many but still good progress on the road to recovery.
Katy loses the second set 0-6 in 20 minutes. At 0-3 she took a spare racquet from her bag and destroyed it. At 0-5 she changed ends without sitting down or hydrating. At the end she ran off the court without taking her bag.
