That's the 3rd time they have played in the last 2 months. 1st time 1 & 1 to Alina, 2nd time 1 & 1 to Alicia.

Twice up a break in the first set and served for it at 5-3

Good win over the JR14

Ranah lost to the top seed, 7-6(6)  6-0

Alicia beat the top-15 junior, 6-4 6-4

Edit: the addict beat me to it smile - and, yes, Ranah definitely had big chances in that first set - which might have made all the difference

SF:- Alicia Dudeney (GBR) WR488 v Kailey Evans (USA) WR1222 [Q11]

Kailey was (is still in 4th year?) at the University of San Diego

It's been a very close first set - Kailey is obviously a US college player who plays MILES better than her WTA ranking would suggest

But although Alicia always looks a little like a gazelle on ice skates, she actually moves very well and has played a very good balance of attack and defence and takes the first set 7-5

Alicia went a break up in the second but then it all went south - Kailey is very fit and, as above, she plays far above her ranking, and the back end of the set went far too quickly - 2-6

Lots of breaks in this match - it's *3-4 in the decider and 5 breaks to 6

All pretty close - and then Alicia throws in THREE dfs in her game and gets broken and now the US player serves for the match

Evans was the more front-foot player at the end and deserved to win

My 10ps at the end of the first set came good - but I'd rather they hadn't
