British female player of the month - May

There are plenty of candidates for this month.

[1] Anne Keothavong: Anne qualified for WTA Strasbourg just before the French Open, beating top 100 player Tian Tian Sun in the second quali round.

[2] Katie O`Brien: Katie reached the semis of $50k Fukuoka.

[3] Sarah Borwell: Sarah reached her first $25K final in Nagano last week but was forced to retire after the first set. She beat the top seed in the semis. She will move up to just outside the top 250 when the rankings come out after the French Open.

[4] Melanie South : Melanie reached the quarters of $25k Tenerife and will break the top 300 when the rankings are released after the French Open.

[5] Amanda Keen : Amanda reached the quarters of $25K Tenerife, losing a tight match to Andrea Hlavackova, the eventual champion.

[6] Naomi Cavaday: Naomi reached the semis of $10K Budapest, losing to the eventual champion, Katalin Marosi.

[7] Yasmin Clarke: Yasmin will gain her first world rankings after the French Open after reaching the final in $10K El Paso. She beat the 1st, 3rd and 6th seeds en route.

Having not followed the British women much over the last month, can Sally or jamatthews or someone else do the poll for this month ?

I`ll do one now.

I went for Sarah...think she would have won if not for the injury

Thanks for doing the poll Sally

I also went for Sarah Borwell. Nearly chose Yasmin Clarke as her achievement was so impressive

I went for Yasmin, was really torn between her and Sarah Borwell though.

Yasmin here.  So great to see a young player doing well far away from home.

hmmm..yas or borwell....borwell reached a challenger whereas clarke made a 10k final. Yasmin collects her 1st ranking points while borwell will be ranked just outside the top 250, soooo my vote goes too.....SARAH!!

Voted for Anne. I just think if she can continue to qualify for WTA events like that she will really start to make strides.

Yasmin has obviously done great, but it looks like she will have her time. WC in Wimbly juniors hopefully!
